About My Work

Flowers and leaves have always been my companions behind each of my thought process. 'Formalism' is the track on which, I have been traveling; where aesthetic is more concerned about physical treatment and visual form, rather than subject. Although sometimes a few elements from 'depth' also swims over the surface; the visual forms keep its charm alive! These thoughts are oriented around the subjects like human psychology, architecture and heritage, certain regional and cultural aspects, social aspects of human being's life or depiction of short stories.

I feel flowers and leaves are more truthful as compare to the human crowd; however, there are many aspects of nature resembled to the human being's life! This juggling reflects in my works on n' off.

I started my journey of art with drawing and painting as an art student. During this academic phase I experienced some constraints while achieving certain feel like subtlety, calmness and purity along with textural effects on canvas; the kind of images always used to float around my eyes. In order to overcome this disarray; initially I experimented with white paint on canvas by playing around with multiple layers. But it left me with a feeling of dissatisfaction and incompleteness as I was bound to take support of some or another external element, which I never wanted in order to retain the purity of white. Finally, this constraint broke while working on Printmaking; especially etching, wherein I found texture is only the tool; which served the purpose. This is how my journey of Printmaking began with 'White on White'......

Right from the beginning I have been working on Etching Prints with white ink only; however, initially the purpose was a little different - To achieve subtlety and calmness along with texture. But gradually my focus moved towards exploring textures only and the stage arrived when I restricted myself deliberately for not using colors, in order to meet my own expectations.

As I moved on, I started feeling; this would be the right track leading me towards the destination, where I could represent my inner world!

Gradually, I elaborated the concept of 'White on White' by exploring textures and by incorporating with different techniques like collage work and embroidery. Something I didn't want at very initial stage, since it was a challenge to myself of expanding a wide spectrum from a tiny dot but now that spectrum has already been expanded wherein such external elements are welcome as guests.

My works represent my own imaginary, intuitive world; where I love to live all the moments. Sometimes, practical and physical aspects also reflect, but not so frequently.
